Merge Ahead (Right Lane Merging) (W4-1R)
Warns drivers that two separate lanes moving in the same direction are merging into one. Drivers in the right lane must adjust speed and merge smoothly with existing traffic.
Two-Way Traffic Ahead (W6-3)
Warns that a one-way street or divided highway is ending, and you are entering a roadway with oncoming traffic in the opposing lane. Stay to the right.
Slippery When Wet (W8-5)
The roadway becomes particularly slippery during wet or rainy conditions. Reduce your speed, increase following distance, and avoid abrupt braking or steering.
Traffic Signal Ahead (W3-3)
Warns of a traffic signal ahead that may not yet be visible due to a curve or hill. Be prepared to slow down and stop if the light changes.
Winding Road Ahead (W1-5)
Indicates a series of three or more consecutive sharp turns or curves ahead. Reduce speed and maintain lane control.
Advance Intersection (W2-1)
Alerts drivers to a major crossroads intersection ahead. Watch for vehicles entering or crossing the roadway.
Reflective Marker (Hazard Warning) (OM1-3)
Object marker used to mark obstacles or bridge abutments near the edge of the road to alert drivers at night.
Hairpin Curve Ahead (W1-11)
Warns of an extremely sharp 180-degree curve ahead. Decelerate significantly before entering the turn.
Advisory Speed Plate (45 MPH) (W13-1P)
Recommended safe maximum driving speed in ideal conditions for an upcoming curve, ramp, or hazardous stretch of road.
Crossroad Intersection (W2-1)
Another road crosses the highway ahead. Look left and right for crossing or entering vehicles.
Crossroad with Caution (W2-1)
Four-way intersection ahead. Be prepared to yield right-of-way according to traffic control devices.
Sharp Curve with Advisory Speed (W1-2 + W13-1P)
A sharp curve is ahead with a recommended safe speed plate. Slow down before entering the curve to prevent vehicle rollover.
Side Road Intersection (W2-2)
A side road enters the highway from the right or left. Watch for traffic turning onto or crossing your lane.
Y-Intersection Ahead (W2-5)
The road splits into a Y configuration ahead. Bear left or right depending on your destination and yield where marked.
Traffic Signals Ahead Warning (W3-3)
A signalized intersection is ahead. Prepare to stop if the light turns yellow or red.
Reverse Curve Ahead (W1-4)
Warns of two consecutive curves in opposite directions (e.g., curves right then left). Slow down to maintain control.
Steep Grade / Hill Ahead (W7-1)
A steep downhill grade is ahead. Trucks and heavy vehicles should downshift to a lower gear to prevent brake overheating.
270-Degree Loop Ramp (W1-15)
Warns of a circular exit or interchange ramp looping 270 degrees. Slow down significantly to the posted advisory speed.
Lane Ends / Road Narrowing (W4-2)
The roadway ahead is narrowing or a lane is ending. Merge smoothly into the continuing lane.
Diamond Warning Shape (W-Shape)
Yellow diamond-shaped signs always convey warnings about road hazards, changes in conditions, or upcoming requirements.
Right Curve Ahead (W1-2R)
The road curves gradually to the right ahead. Reduce speed before entering the curve.
Narrow Bridge Ahead (W5-2)
The bridge ahead has narrower lanes or shoulders than the preceding road. Use caution when meeting oncoming vehicles.
Low Overhead Clearance (W12-2)
Indicates the maximum bridge or underpass vertical clearance. Vehicles taller than the posted height must not proceed.
Divided Highway Ahead (W6-1)
The road ahead is divided by a median strip or physical barrier into two separate one-way roadways. Keep to the right of the divider.
Pavement Ends Ahead (W8-3)
Paved road surface ends and transitions to gravel, dirt, or unpaved roadway. Reduce speed and prepare for reduced traction.
Divided Highway Ends (W6-2)
The median divider ends ahead, and you are returning to a two-way, two-lane undivided roadway. Watch for oncoming traffic on your left.
Sharp Right Turn (W1-1R)
The road makes a sharp 90-degree right turn ahead. Slow down considerably before entering the turn.
Deer Crossing Ahead (W11-3)
Wildlife and deer frequently cross in this area, especially at dawn and dusk. Scan the roadside and be prepared to brake safely.
Stop Sign Ahead (W3-1)
Warns of an upcoming STOP sign that may not be immediately visible. Begin slowing down to prepare for a complete stop.
Yield Sign Ahead (W3-2)
Warns of an upcoming YIELD sign. Prepare to slow down and check for cross traffic before proceeding.
General Warning Diamond (W-Diamond)
Standard yellow warning sign outline used across the US for all caution, hazard, and roadway change notifications.
One-Direction Large Arrow (W1-6)
Posted on the far side of a sharp curve or T-intersection to indicate a sharp change in direction of travel.
One Lane Bridge (W5-3)
The bridge width allows only one vehicle to cross at a time. The vehicle reaching the bridge first has right-of-way; opposing traffic must wait.
Double Arrow (Traffic Diverging) (W12-1)
Indicates that traffic is permitted to pass on either the left or the right side of an island, median, or obstruction.
Slow-Moving Vehicle Emblem (SMV)
Reflective orange triangle displayed on vehicles traveling at 25 MPH or slower (such as farm tractors or construction machinery). Approach with caution and pass safely.
Roundabout / Traffic Circle (W16-12P)
A circular intersection is ahead. Vehicles inside the roundabout have right-of-way; entering traffic must yield to traffic approaching from the left.
T-Intersection Ahead (W2-4)
The roadway ends ahead at a T-junction. You must turn either left or right after yielding right-of-way to traffic on the cross street.
NO PASSING ZONE (Pennant Sign) (W14-3)
Yellow triangular pennant sign posted on the left side of the road marking the beginning of a no-passing zone.
Low Shoulder Warning (W8-9)
The unpaved shoulder of the road is significantly lower than the paved travel lane. Maintain a firm grip on the steering wheel if tires drift off.
Roundabout Lane Navigation (RND-LANE)
Choose your lane before entering a multi-lane roundabout: right lane for right turns/straight, left lane for straight/left turns/U-turns.
Soft Shoulder Warning (W8-4)
The shoulder is soft dirt or gravel and may not support vehicle weight. Do not drive on the shoulder unless in an emergency.
Dip in Roadway Ahead (W8-2)
A low point or depression in the roadway is ahead. Slow down to prevent vehicle undercarriage scraping or loss of control.
Speed Advisory Ramp Plate (W13-3)
Recommends maximum safe speed for an upcoming highway curve or connector ramp.
Chevron Alignment Sign (W1-8)
Sharp curve alignment marker guiding motorists through sharp turns at night or in low visibility.
Left Sharp Curve Warning (W1-1L)
The roadway makes a sharp curve to the left ahead. Reduce speed before entering.
Divided Highway Crossing Intersection (W2-4 + DIV)
Indicates you are approaching a crossing or T-intersection on a divided multi-lane highway.
